A Vibrant Student Centered Learning Community

  MESSAGE FROM DR. COAKLEY

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

At the heart of our work cultivating a community where every child feels safe, respected, and valued is a focus on building empathy, respect, and kindness in everyday habits. Students in K-5 have begun strengthening their skills by diving into the Second Steps Social Emotional Learning curriculum with their teachers and classmates. This work helps us set the tone for a safe, caring classroom community from the very start of the school year.

Students will learn how to:

  • Model kindness and respect in their daily interactions.

  • Practice strategies to stand up safely and support others.

  • Recognize what bullying looks like and how it differs from conflict.

  • Understand the roles we all play in preventing bullying.

How families can support at home:

  • Talk with your child about the importance of treating others with kindness.

  • Reinforce the message that kindness makes our school a better place for everyone.

  • Ask them to share examples of how they showed empathy or respect during the day.

  • Reinforce that there are many different types of relationships within our school community — including friendships, sibling connections, classmates, teachers, and staff. Remind students that while it is not necessary to be close friends with everyone, it is essential that every person at Peaslee feels valued and that they belong.

Our shared goal is to make school a place where every student feels excited to learn, collaborate, and grow in a positive community. By working together, we can make our school a place where students not only learn but also thrive.

Have a wonderful weekend, and a great week ahead!

Dr. Mary Coakley, Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PHOTO RELEASE

As we prepare for a year full of exciting events and celebrations, we want to ensure we respect each family’s preferences regarding the use of student photos in school publications, newsletters, and on our website. Please take a moment to complete this short Photo Permissions 2025-26 form to let us know your preferences. Your input helps us celebrate our students while honoring your wishes. Thank you!

Reminder: BACK TO SCHOOL FORMS

All families will need to complete the back to school forms. Included in these Northborough Public School documents are the Peaslee School Student Handbook outlining the expectations and school policies. Please be sure to review these with your K-5 student at the beginning of each year. A photo release is also included. We have found that asking families to also complete a more detailed Peaslee Photo Permissions has been helpful to us as we manage the various types of photos and permissions that come up during the year.

WEEKLY K-4 TECH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you are interested in volunteering and seeing the kids in action, please consider volunteering. TRUST me, it's easier than you think. Last year we had moms, dads, & grandmas volunteer to work with the classes.  It's following a few directions and guiding the students to do the same.  All is explained and easy to follow.  Volunteers are required to have a current CORI. Your CORI will be valid for 2 years. It takes a few days to clear, so be sure to do this a week before you plan to volunteer.  Mrs. Parron looks forward to having you join our tech classes! Tech Volunteer Schedule Sign Up

THE PEASLEE BUDDY BENCH HAS ARRIVED!

A huge thank you goes out to our amazing Fourth Grade Bench Buddies (Nora, Cassie and Ava) for all of their hard work last year raising money for such a wonderful cause. Your teamwork has made a lasting difference for our school community. We are also grateful to the Peaslee community and the Northborough Junior Women’s League for supporting this project. Come check out the Buddy Bench — we can’t wait to see the many new friendships it will inspire! 💙
