GROWING MINDS~BUILDING COMMUNITY~INSPIRING POSSIBILITY
Monday, August 17, 2026
Dear Peaslee Students, Families and Caregivers,

Our staff has been hard at work preparing the building and classrooms to ensure everything is ready for the start of another great school year. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where all students can thrive.

The PANDA POST, will be sent on Friday afternoons. This weekly newsletter will be your go-to source for school updates, events, and important information throughout the year. This week I have included information about arrival and dismissal routines. It is essential that we prioritize the safety of all students, staff, drivers, and families, please follow these rules at all times.

We know everyone is excited to find out who their teacher will be! Class placement details will be emailed to all families on Wednesday, August 19th, at 3:00 PM.

Best wishes for a great remainder of your summer! Please reach out with any questions.

Dr. Mary Coakley, Principal

ANNOUNCEMENTS

IMPORTANT: CONFIRMING YOUR CHILD'S END-OF-DAY DISMISSAL PLAN

To ensure a smooth and safe dismissal, please inform both the main office and your child’s classroom teacher of their daily end-of-day plan. We ask that families provide the details that include what they plan to be on Monday through Friday. Indicate if your child will ride the bus (include the #), get picked up by a parent, or remain at school to attend the NEDP aftercare program. In the past some families have a different plan for the first days of school, if this is the case include that in the description. If we do not receive a specific update or change from you, your child will automatically be placed on their assigned bus. The more information the better!

PICKING YOUR STUDENT UP EARLY OR MAKING A LATE CHANGE IN PLANS

Send a note to your child's teacher if you plan to pick your child up early for an appointment. If you choose to email this information please send it to your child's teacher and Mrs. Carbone in the office (jcarbone@nsboro.k12.ma.us). Changes after morning arrival should be emailed to Mrs. Carbone and Mrs. Ferrante (kferrante@nsboro.k12.ma.us). Managing last-minute dismissal changes late in the afternoon can be challenging. For safety and logistics, any late-in-the-day changes must be communicated directly to the main office (508) 351-7035 rather than just the classroom teacher, ensuring our staff receives the message in time.

MORNING ARRIVAL & AFTERNOON DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

BUSES

The District will send Bus Assignment Letters very soon, through ParentSquare. The information included letters to families via ParentSquare that contained your child's bus number, bus stop location, and tentative pick-up and drop-off times. Routes change from the morning to the afternoon due to useage numbers so don't be surprised if you child has one bus number in the morning and another one in the afternoon.  Plan to be at your bus stop 10 minutes early each day and plan for the buses to potentially be late until the drivers iron out the kinks during the first weeks of school.

STANDARD OUTDOOR ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL

Morning: Upon arrival, students exit the bus and head straight to the playground for recess until 8:35 AM at 8:55 AM, students line up with their class and enter the building with their teacher.

Afternoon: Dismissal lines form on the blacktop while students wait for their buses to arrive. Staff members supervise students and assist them with boarding.

Inclement Weather Plan (Rain or Temperatures Below 20°F)

Arrival: Students enter the building immediately upon arrival.

  • Upper Wing Students: Wait in the cafeteria.

  • Lower Wing Students: Wait in the gym.

Dismissal: All bus riders will gather in the gym and back hallway until it is time to board their assigned bus under staff supervision.

PARENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES

Maple Street Queue: All vehicles entering the school zone during drop-off and pick-up must queue and enter from Maple Street.

No Left Turns: Making a left turn into the Peaslee School driveway during arrival or dismissal hours is strictly prohibited.

Stay in Your Car & Vehicle Lane: Parents and drivers must remain inside their vehicles at all times. Stay in the single lane and never pass the vehicle in front of you. Staff members will be outside to guide you in the event that you need to pass the vehicle in front of you.

Stay Alert: Be mindful of school buses dropping off or picking up students, and remain alert while driving through the loop.

MORNING DROP-OFF (8:35 AM – 8:55 AM)

Timing: Drop-off begins at 8:35 AM. Please do not unload students before staff are on duty.

Unloading: Pull up to the sidewalk at the front of the school. Have your child ready to exit quickly from the passenger/sidewalk side of the car so the line continues to move efficiently. Staff members will be on-site to assist younger students in exiting.

Building Entry: Students enter through the main front doors and proceed to the playground for recess (or indoor waiting areas during bad weather).

Need Extra Time? If you need additional time or need to assist your child, please pull up to the front of the line and alert a staff member so they can guide you to a parking space.

First Week Support: Staff and student helpers will be in the lobby during the first week of school to greet students and help them find their way.

AFTERNOON PICK-UP (Beginning at 3:25 PM)

Dashboard Name Sign: We ask all families to create a paper sign displaying your child's name in bold letters and place it on your dashboard. This allows staff to quickly identify vehicles.

ProcessBeginning at 3:25 PM, staff will radio the names of waiting students based on the order of cars in line, starting from the front.

Loading: Students will enter vehicles from the passenger/sidewalk side. Staff members will be on-site to assist younger students into their cars.

Stay in Line: Once your child is safely in the car, remain in line until the vehicle ahead of you moves forward—do not attempt to pass other cars.
